Val d’Orcia Gravel A new and open to anyone way to do tourism, combining it with sport and food & wine passion.
Nowadays, the world of gravel is in full evolution and GRS with its concept of gravel racing has nurtured the growing desire among cyclists to ride again on the Eroica historical trails in Bagno Vignoni – Siena Italy.
For the second year in a row, the GRS Val d’Orcia Gravel will be a non-competitive venue open to anyone.*
The 2018 GRS Val d’Orcia Gravel will have two race courses drawn on the most beautiful Tuscany’s landscape. The long course is 80 kilometers long with 1200 meters of elevation gain while the short course is 50 kilometers long with 700 meters of elevation gain. Both race courses will have 80% of gravel surface and 20% of asphalt surface.
As in 2017, here at GRS we thought about people coming as a group of friends to ride on this venue and because of that in order to add value to the gathering together, we set up two secret special stages in the 100 km race course. The two hidden stages will be timed by Strava as the riders will ride on them letting to each individual rider to decide which pace to adopt during the entire length of the race course because the timed sections times will be revealed only at the end of the race.
On the race course but outside the hidden timed sections, the riders will find rest areas where having short breaks and food stops to taste the delicacies typical of this part of Italy. There will be two food stops on the long race course and one in the short.
The event is aimed at letting the participants getting to know better what all the territory has to offer to a knowledgeable audience and in doing so, every rider will get a complimentary race pack and an invitation to the free pasta party taking place at the end of the race.
As usual, the race expo area will open on Saturday morning at 10 am with the participation of the series sponsors Specialized, Ritchey, Supernova Bikes, Vittoria Tyres, Billet and ResolvBike.
GRS Val d’Orcia Gravel will also be the perfect scenario for a under the stars dinner.
It will be possible to book a special dinner near the famous Thermal Water pool in Bagno Vignoni. The dinner costs 20 Euro for each person and you can book it by mail at email@example.com. The dinner party is open to anyone, riders and their guests.
Registration to the race is open on-line at www.gravelroadseries.it at a cost of 25,00 EUR including the free food at the food stops. The complimentary race pack can be picked up at the race secretary tent. You can also enrol by e-mail, sending an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org including your full name and a copy of your medical eligibility certificate.
In order to keep a high-quality event standard, registration is limited to 200 riders.
